Who are we?

Herekore Equine courses have been developed by education professionals with a passion for and lifetime of experience with horses. They have years of teaching experience in classrooms and home education contexts, and have taught riding and horsemanship privately. From stables to studs and private ownership, they have brought all their experience and extensive research into equine care with them and incorporated that knowledge into the courses offered by Herekore Equine.

Who are Herekore Equine courses for?

Student Level

Our courses are aimed at middle and high school students. Younger students can use the materials but will require guidance from an adult for some of the activities. The courses can also be beneficial to older students who are interested in learning more about horses and their care.

Home Educators

These resources were originally developed to serve the needs of the home education community. They have been carefully designed for the flexibility of home education, to allow students to study at their own pace and balance their academic workload according to their context. The courses are self-directed, with clear objectives and easy to follow materials.

School Students

While our courses have been designed with home educators in mind, they can be used as extension learning for students attending middle or high school.

Riding Schools or Camps

Instructors can use the courses to supplement practical lessons or as a theoretical component in a classroom setting, on retreats or camps, or as an additional learning opportunity for their students.

How does it work?

Each course consists of nine modules, on various topics, of which the student chooses five according to their interests. They can complete more modules for extra credit if they wish.

Modules are research based, so students gather, collate, and present information in order to achieve the objectives. There are no tests or exams.

Presentation of the module content is flexible, but full templates are provided to give a framework students can work to if desired.

Modules are delivered electronically and can be begun at any time of the year.  Each course has been designed to be able to be completed within a year, but they can be worked through at the student’s own pace with no external deadlines. The completed modules can be returned to Herekore Equine via email for marking, or students can complete the work without marking.
